Objectives

The third stage of the project aims to:

  • Encourage the widespread adoption of regenerative cattle ranching (RCR) in Peru, positioning it as a sustainable land-use practice capable of reducing deforestation, enhancing farmer income and resilience (including men, women, and youth), and promoting biodiversity conservation.
  • Improve the enabling conditions for investment in RCR; building upon compiled evidence, an improved policy environment, and increased social capital, this step will foster greater adoption of RCR at local and national levels.

Building sustainability across the supply chain

Widespread deforestation in the Peruvian Amazon for farming is putting unprecedented pressure on vulnerable ecosystems and threatening livelihoods and food production.

In Madre de Dios, livestock farming is the number one cause of deforestation. But meat production doesn’t have to be this damaging.  This project has been working with partners across the supply chain to find new ways to make the journey from farm to plate better for cattle, the environment and the consumer.
