What is the Under2 Coalition's role in COPs?
Each year, the Under2 Coalition holds its General Assembly in the margins of COP. This is the annual meeting of our leading state and regional governments, which provides them with the opportunity to share knowledge and first-hand experience of climate action and to challenge the international community to increase its ambition and play its part.
Increasingly subnational governments are also participating in and influencing the COP process itself. The CHAMP initiative, launched at COP28, unites Parties to the UNFCCC with their states and regions to improve and strengthen their national climate commitments.
