Letter to the European Parliament Committee on Industry, Research & Energy

In 2023, Climate Group signed a joint letter to the European Parliament calling for ambitious reform of the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.

Alongside the Institutional Investor Group on Climate Change (IIGCC) and Corporate Leaders Group (CLG) Europe, we urged the EU Parliament to take a robust position on the directive in January 2023.

The letter asked for:

  • Minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) for both residential and commercial buildings
  • Harmonisation of the Energy Performance Certificate system

With robust EU legislation we will be able to:

  • Support energy security across the EU
  • Boost EU green jobs
  • Help reach the EU's climate and energy ambitions

EP100 Cooling Challenge

In 2019, the EP100 Cooling Challenge, led by Climate Group and the Alliance the Save Energy, was launched.

EP100 member companies were challenged to identifying ways of cooling their operations as efficiently as possible – optimising the contribution of efficient, clean cooling to their energy productivity goals.

LED programme

The LED programme, led by Climate Group, worked with cities and businesses to transform how we light our world.

If companies globally made the switch to LED light bulbs, they would save around 403 million tonnes of CO2 emissions, which is equivalent to the annual emissions of 371 power plants. The LED programme highlighted the energy saving benefits of LEDs for cities and businesses.
