What is the US Climate Action Summit?
Back for its fourth year, the US Climate Action Summit united key leaders in business, politics and the third-sector to drive US climate momentum.
The Leaders’ Forum, the flagship event of the week hosted by Climate Group, brought together over 200 climate leaders for an agenda specially curated to facilitate big conversations on stage while allowing leaders to drill into the detail during closed-door workshops and roundtables.
Our goal was to create an action-led platform that drove measurable outcomes on climate policy and business action, with attendees at the heart of the agenda.
What was the agenda format?
Our program was split into two core agendas.
Spotlight sessions
In-depth debates from a wide range of climate voices and perspectives on the biggest challenges facing US climate leadership. These sessions were hosted in front of a live audience with a focus on participation and open questions. We focused on integration and implementation across public, private and third-sector leadership.
Our Spotlight Sessions included focused dialogues on state-driven initiatives and programs fueled by the Inflation Reduction Act, bringing to the fore the tangible changes happening across the nation.
Implementation agenda
A full agenda of in-person workshops, collaborative meetings, and open spaces held behind closed doors creating a safe and constructive space for knowledge-led outcomes. It exclusively focused on pushing progress and implementing the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s visions by connecting state, federal, business, and community leadership.
The summit featured state leaders who are at the forefront of the IRA implementation, sharing insights and strategies for maximizing the Act’s benefits.
How was this event different?
We know events alone will not change the world, but the people and conversations at them can. That’s why we brought together a combination of closed and open sessions centered around confronting disparity between climate ambition and climate reality.
We saw a huge demand from our business, policy and NGO networks for an open and honest platform that pushes progress and implementation.
We designed an agenda that put participation at the center of the program, by creating an open space for off the record conversations, carefully curated small-group conversations, and a series of closed-door implementation sessions that deliver real outcomes.
Why do we host this event?
In 2020, President Biden invited Climate Group to support the Leaders’ Summit on Climate. We helped curate and organize a series of events to showcase US climate action. Building on this success, US Climate Action Summit has evolved, and is now established as a vital moment to connect climate leaders on key policy and climate issues in the United States.
