Opportunities to engage
Climate Week NYC, hosted annually by the Climate Group, is the time and place where the world gathers to showcase amazing climate action and discusses how to do more. In 2021, Climate Week NYC was home to over 500 events.
Under2 members
There are 32 Under2 Coalition member states and regions in North America, from the US and Canada. Nine North American states and regional members have more ambitious low-carbon standards than their national governments.
Projects and workstreams
Through peer-learning forums in the Under2 Coalition Methane Project, state and regional governments have been sharing their experiences in tracking and reducing methane emissions in the oil and gas sector and using the platform to showcase climate leadership.
The ZEV Community brings together all levels of governments to share and learn about exciting zero emission vehicle (ZEV) initiatives taking place around the world.
The Industry Transition Platform (ITP) works with Under2 Coalition governments from highly industrialized regions across North America and Europe to develop strategies to cut industry emissions, while supporting jobs, growth and prosperity.
Actions to celebrate
California, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Nevada, Washington and New York State, all Under2 Coalition members, have plans to achieve economy-wide, net-zero emissions by 2050. Over 10 North American Under2 members have 100% renewable energy or electricity targets by or before 2050. Nevada and Minnesota became clean car states by passing clean cars legislation to improve air quality and reduce tailpipe emissions.
Major US companies such as Apple, Bloomberg and Bank of America have made ambitious commitments through RE100 to use 100% renewable electricity by 2030; following through on EV100 commitments, Donlen, Lyft and Lime are transitioning to 100% electric vehicles; and EP100 member Hilton is rolling out an energy management system to achieve a 40% energy productivity improvement by 2030 against a 2008 baseline. Siemens, already an EV100 member, joined RE100 and EP100 to take a holistic approach to climate action.
RE100 members are leading on fulfillment. At least 38 RE100 members reported accounting for 100% of their US electricity needs with renewables.
