Jeffrey works as (self-employed) Strategic Advisor, building from his experience of nearly 30 years in politics, impact investing, and philanthropy. Right now, he is working for the WHO to launch the “energy for health” program in several countries in Africa. He is passionate about climate and equity – how energy might be catalytic for both issues – and believes that everyone needs to play a role in bettering the world for the many.
Previously, he was the Head of Portfolio Renewable Energy at IKEA Foundation, where he led the strategy and implementation of the foundation's renewable energy portfolio, aiming to alleviate poverty through energy access and empowerment.
Before that he worked as Program Manager at DOEN Foundation, the main fund of the Dutch Postcode Lottery, overseeing the foundation's investments (grants, loans and equity) and partnerships in various thematic areas, such as climate, circular economy (cradle to cradle), various (agriculture)product chains and nature conservation.
Before IKEA and DOEN Foundation, he worked in politics, for various politicians at the Dutch and European Parliament, and served as a City Council Member in Amsterdam.
He is currently a member of the Stakeholder Advisory Council at Cradle-to-Cradle Products Innovation Institute, where he contributes to the promotion of the cradle-to-cradle design protocol.
