Quintana Roo has developed a decarbonisation pathway which prioritises 11 mitigation actions. This has been based off its GHG emissions reduction targets.
Its priority actions cover multiple sectors, including energy, transport, forest and land use, republic chemical industries, industry, agriculture, and waste.
It is expected that the greatest emissions reduction will take place in the energy sector, with one action being to construct new solar farms and connect them to the national grid.
Implementing these actions is expected to avoid 2.7 million tonnes of GHG emissions by 2030 and more than 9.9 million tonnes by 2050.
