Development and evaluation of Madre de Dios' decarbonisation pathway

Madre de Dios is well positioned to move forward with its decarbonisation targets - building on nine priority actions and other socio-economic targets.

By 2025, it is estimated that the GHG emissions reduced, as a result of these priority actions, will account for more than two thirds of those needed for Madre de Dios to reach its 2050 net zero target. 

For next steps, the region will need to identify specific implementation mechanisms to help quantify costs and benefits. This will also mean finding methods to finance these actions, so that they can offer the most potential in terms of delivering mitigation and socio-economic benefits.
